GoTrackable FAQ.

Use this page to answer beginner questions, reduce confusion in the field, and give search engines a clear overview of the product.

What is GoTrackable?

GoTrackable is a website concept for creating and following QR-powered trackable objects. The object has a public code, a page, a mission, and a history of logs from people who find or move it.

What is a Geotrackable item?

A Geotrackable item is a physical object connected to a digital trail. It can be used for geocaching, clubs, events, schools, troops, family trips, or other real-world adventures where an object should collect memories over time.

Is a trackable the same as ordinary swag?

No. Ordinary swag is usually traded and kept. A trackable usually has a goal and should continue traveling unless the owner’s page says otherwise.

What should I put on the physical tag?

Put the public code or public QR where finders can scan or type it. Use durable materials, test the code before release, and keep the instruction short.

Should I post the secret code in cache pages or comments?

No. Secret codes and private QR links should stay out of public cache text, public photos, and comments. Only the public code should be visible to ordinary finders.

What happens when someone finds my trackable?

They can scan or enter the code, read the mission, add a log, and move the item if they can help. If they cannot move it, they can log a discovery and leave it for someone else.

Can I add photos?

Yes, when photos are appropriate. Avoid private codes, sensitive location clues, people who did not consent, and identifying details for children or private groups.

Can families use GoTrackable?

Yes. Families can create travel mascots, vacation tokens, park challenges, road-trip logs, and outdoor learning adventures.

Can schools or troops use it?

Yes, with adult-managed accounts, approved locations, privacy-safe photos, and clear instructions. Trackables can support geography, writing, STEM, field trips, and teamwork.

Can clubs and meetup groups use it?

Yes. Clubs can use shared trackables as event memory hubs, recurring meetup tokens, challenge items, or group mascots.

What makes a good mission?

A good mission is clear, realistic, and easy to act on. It tells finders where the object hopes to go, what kind of log helps, and any boundaries they should respect.

What if the tag is damaged?

Add a note if possible. If you are the owner, repair, replace, rotate, or retire the item depending on the platform controls available.
