Finder guide
You found a trackable. Here is what to do next.
A trackable is usually meant to keep traveling. Before you move it, scan the code, read its mission, and decide whether you can help.
Scan the QR or enter the public code.
The tag should lead to a public page that explains the object, its goal, and the latest notes from previous finders.
Read the mission.
Some items want to travel far. Some want specific photos. Some may be for an event, class, or club and should not leave a defined area.
Log what happened.
Add a helpful note. If photos are welcome, add a clear photo that does not expose private codes, sensitive locations, or people who did not consent.
Move it only if you can help.
If you can place the item somewhere appropriate soon, move it forward. If you cannot, discover it and leave it for another finder.
Finder etiquette
Help the journey, not just the moment.
The object belongs to its larger story. Good finders protect that story by logging clearly, moving promptly, and respecting the owner’s mission.
If you take it
Log the pickup, keep it safe, and place it in a next location that matches its goal. Do not let it disappear in a backpack, desk drawer, or glove compartment.
If you leave it
A discovery log can still be valuable. It tells the owner the item was seen and helps future finders know the object is active.
If something is wrong
Leave a respectful note. Do not post private codes publicly. If a tag is damaged, mention it so the owner can repair or retire the item.
Fast field version
Scan it. Read the mission. Log it. Move it only if you can place it somewhere allowed and useful. Keep private codes private.
