Mission library

Give the item a reason to move.

A clear mission turns a QR tag into a story. Use these ideas as starting points for your own GoTrackable release.

Reach a landmark

Try to reach a specific mountain, city, museum, trailhead, lighthouse, or state park.

Collect a theme

Ask for photos of bridges, murals, libraries, waterfalls, trail signs, or historic markers.

Visit every region

Move through counties, states, provinces, campuses, parks, or neighborhoods.

Return home

Travel outward for a season, then ask the community to help bring the item back.

Event chain

Appear at each recurring meetup, club outing, troop event, or annual celebration.

Class exchange

Travel between classrooms and collect notes about local geography and culture.

Kindness route

Invite each finder to leave a positive note or small act-of-kindness story.

Skill challenge

Ask finders to solve a clue, identify a plant, describe weather, or record an observation.

How to write a mission that gets followed

Keep it short, specific, and realistic. “Help me visit every national park” is inspiring but may be too broad for a first item. “Help me visit three local nature centers this summer” is easier to understand and complete. The mission should tell finders what success looks like and what kind of log is most helpful.

Also tell people what not to do. If the item should stay in a region, say so. If it is discover-only at events, say so. If photos are encouraged but faces should be avoided, say so. Clear boundaries protect the object and the people using it.
